Instrument Construction

After determining the tone of the cigar box, I add reinforcement where it is needed and then add a bass bar.  If appropriate, sound posts are added.  An original hand crafted peg-head tops the mahogany necks.  Nuts and bridges are hand made of ebony and, unless otherwise specified, tuners are new and geared.  I am especially particular about the finish, hand-sanding using grits as fine as 600. New strings are installed, followed by tuning and testing.  The instruments are allowed to set for a period of time to make sure they stay in tune, then they receive the final tuning before leaving my shop.  I take great pride in making a higher-end cigar box instrument, and will stand behind the construction of my instruments, as long as they are treated well, and not left in moist or hot areas.  I aspire to make instruments that will stand the test of time and will be treasured and played for generations.

I hope you enjoy my instruments - whether you look at them online, or purchase and play them.  Thank you for visiting.
